Dr. Klane K. White is an orthopedic surgeon with extensive clinical and academic expertise in pediatric musculoskeletal disorders, skeletal dysplasia, and rare genetic conditions such as mucopolysaccharidoses (MPS). He currently serves as Chair of Pediatric Orthopedics at Children’s Hospital Colorado and holds the Rose Brown Endowed Chair of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. White is also Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and holds a secondary appointment as Professor of Pediatrics in Clinical Genetics and Metabolism.
Dr. White’s clinical practice and research focus on complex pediatric orthopedic conditions, including early-onset scoliosis, skeletal dysplasias, and the orthopedic manifestations of genetic metabolic diseases. He is known for his multidisciplinary approach to care and for contributing to advancements in surgical techniques and long-term musculoskeletal management in children with rare conditions.
Over the course of his career, Dr. White has been recognized with multiple honors, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Achievement Award in 2018 and the Angela S.M. Kuo Memorial Young Investigator Award from the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA) in 2011. He has also received international recognition through the POSNA/EPOS Traveling Fellowship and the Edgar Dawson Traveling Fellowship from the Scoliosis Research Society. Earlier in his career, he was awarded the T. Boone Pickens Annual Fellows Award for Excellence in Orthopaedic Research, among other research distinctions.
In addition to his leadership and clinical roles, Dr. White has participated in national and international educational and collaborative efforts, serving as a mentor and contributor to the development of future clinician-scientists. His research contributions include studies on skeletal growth, imaging biomarkers in pediatric hip dysplasia, and orthopedic outcomes in children with metabolic and genetic bone disorders.
Dr. White is actively involved in numerous professional societies and continues to contribute to the development of best practices in pediatric orthopedics through research, teaching, and clinical service.
He is currently based in Colorado and continues to support national and international initiatives in pediatric orthopedic care and research.
