Francois Angoulvant

Professor François Angoulvant is a clinician-scientist and Full Professor of Pediatrics, serving as the Head of the Pediatric Department at Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Switzerland. He specializes in clinical epidemiology, pediatric infectious diseases, and emergency medicine, contributing to advancements in childhood pneumonia, acute otitis media, bronchiolitis, and bacterial meningitis.

Prof. Angoulvant earned his MD degree and PhD in Epidemiology from Paris University, where he developed expertise in pediatric emergency care and infectious disease research. Before joining CHUV, he held academic and clinical positions at Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades and Hôpital Robert Debré in Paris, where he was appointed Professor of Pediatrics in 2019. His research integrates epidemiological modeling with clinical interventions, ensuring that children receive evidence-based treatment for infectious diseases.

Since 2020, Prof. Angoulvant has focused on COVID-19 cases, multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C), and the impact of lockdown measures, using advanced statistical tools such as time series analysis and propensity score modeling. His work has contributed to global discussions on pediatric COVID-19 management, helping refine diagnostic criteria and treatment protocols. He has also been involved in vaccine research, demonstrating the protective effects of COVID-19 immunization against MIS-C.

Beyond his research, Prof. Angoulvant is actively involved in medical education and mentorship, training healthcare professionals in pediatric emergency medicine and infectious disease management. He has been a member of the European Society for Pediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) since 2010, contributing to international collaborations on pediatric epidemiology and infection control.
