Professor Dilyana Vicheva, MD, PhD is a senior academic and specialist in otorhinolaryngology based in Bulgaria. She holds professorships at both the Medical University of Plovdiv and the University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev”. Between 2019 and 2023, she served as Vice-Rector for International Relations and Project Activity at the Medical University of Plovdiv, where she contributed to the institution’s international academic partnerships and research development.
Professor Vicheva has over two decades of clinical experience as an ENT surgeon, currently practicing at UMHAT “Kaspela” in Plovdiv. Her teaching responsibilities span undergraduate and postgraduate education, including instruction in ENT diseases for medical, dental, and nursing students, as well as academic supervision of residents and doctoral candidates. She is also involved in interdisciplinary teaching, including courses in phonology at the Academy of Music and Dance Arts in Plovdiv.
She is actively engaged in international professional societies, currently serving as President of the European Rhinologic Society (2023–2025), the Bulgarian Rhinologic Society, and the Bulgarian Pediatric ORL Society. She is also a board or committee member in multiple regional and global organizations, including IFOS, ISIAN, ERS, UEMS ORL Section, ESPO, CEORL-HNS, and others.
Her academic output includes more than 400 publications, eight monographs, and thirteen book chapters, with an h-index of 9 and over 2,800 citations indexed in Scopus. She has been a guest lecturer at more than 230 international congresses and conferences and regularly participates in national and European-level research initiatives. Her involvement includes projects under Horizon 2020, Erasmus+, Interreg, and Bulgaria’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Professor Vicheva also serves on the editorial boards of numerous international journals and contributes as a reviewer for a wide range of academic publications in the field of otorhinolaryngology. She has received multiple national and international recognitions for her academic, clinical, and organizational contributions, including honorary memberships and awards from professional societies across Europe and Asia.
