Dr. Mónica López Rodríguez is a specialist in internal medicine and Head of the Internal Medicine Section at Ramón y Cajal University Hospital (HURyC) in Madrid, Spain. She has dedicated her career to rare disease research, clinical education, and patient care, with a particular focus on Fabry disease and lysosomal disorders.

Dr. López Rodríguez earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Autonomous University of Madrid in April 2006, where she completed her doctoral thesis on Fabry disease in Spain, analyzing patient responses to enzyme replacement therapy. Her research has contributed to advancements in rare disease treatment, ensuring that patients receive specialized and evidence-based care.

Beyond her clinical work, she is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Professor of the Master's Degree in Lysosomal Diseases at the University of Alcalá de Henares (UAH). She plays a key role in training future healthcare professionals, refining diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for rare metabolic disorders.

Dr. López Rodríguez is an active member of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (SEMI) Rare Diseases Group, where she collaborates on national and international research initiatives. She has authored more than 10 book chapters and over 60 scientific articles, contributing to peer-reviewed publications on internal medicine and rare disease management.
