Ben Kasstan-Dabush

Dr. Ben Kasstan-Dabush is a medical anthropologist whose research focuses on health protection, vaccination, and reproductive health, particularly in the context of minoritised communities. He holds a joint appointment as Lecturer in Global Health Policy at the University of Edinburgh and Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Health & Development at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).His work explores how social, religious, and political factors shape engagement with public health interventions, including childhood immunisation and sexual and reproductive health services. Dr. Kasstan-Dabush has contributed to qualitative evaluations of vaccine delivery systems in the UK and internationally, including public health responses to poliovirus outbreaks in London and New York. His research has informed guidance from the World Health Organization and UK parliamentary reports, and he has served as an expert witness for the UK COVID-19 Inquiry.Dr. Kasstan-Dabush�s academic background includes a PhD in Anthropology from Durham University. He has published in leading journals such as Social Science & Medicine, Medical Anthropology Quarterly, and Vaccine, and serves as Associate Editor for Anthropology & Medicine. His teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate levels, integrating rights-based approaches to health, policy, and inequality.Committed to public engagement, he regularly contributes commentary to national and international media outlets and supports interdisciplinary approaches to global health policy. His current research examines how religious and cultural perspectives intersect with public health governance, with a focus on vaccine equity and reproductive rights.
