Who We Are
About Excellence in Pediatrics
The Excellence in Pediatrics Institute (EIP) is a not-for-profit association built for the physicians and child healthcare professionals on the frontline of care. Our mission is to strengthen the clinicians who care for children by advancing their knowledge and skills, connecting them across specialties and borders, and bringing the latest science and innovation directly into everyday practice, so that every infant, child, and adolescent receives the best possible care. We pursue this through holistic, cross-specialty education that gives physicians a whole-child view of care, from the earlier diagnosis of conditions that are too often missed to the adoption of new technologies at the frontline.
Prevention sits at the heart of this work: prevention that starts in childhood and carries through every stage of life. Ten years ago, EIP launched the LifeCourse Prevention Initiative together with partner organizations from adult medicine and public health, because health is a continuum, not a series of separate age brackets. The foundations of lifelong health are laid in the earliest years, and the decisions made in childhood around nutrition, immunization, development and prevention, shape outcomes decades later. A child protected today becomes a healthier adult tomorrow, and prevention delivers the most when it begins early and continues without gaps.
Children's health is inseparable from the health of the families and communities around them. From the wellbeing, health literacy and everyday behaviors of parents and grandparents, to the protection that adult immunization offers the youngest and most vulnerable, caring well for children means caring across generations. By working hand in hand with adult-focused partners, we connect expertise across the entire life course, strengthen the bridge between science and policy, and make prevention a shared responsibility — one that begins in childhood and lasts a lifetime.
