Colin Michie

Dr Colin Michie is a paediatrician and academic affiliated with the Institute of Child Health, University College London. He is part of the Policy, Policy and Practice team, where his work focuses on developing and delivering teaching, educational initiatives, and research to support value-based healthcare. His primary areas of interest include paediatric nutrition, neonatology, and health literacy.

Dr Michie has held various academic and clinical roles, including Deputy Lead of the School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Central Lancashire. He is a Registered Nutritionist and a Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the Royal Society for Public Health, the Linnean Society, and the Royal Society of Arts.

His research experience spans multiple areas, including infectious diseases, neonatal care, child protection, and the use of nutrition in paediatric populations. He has contributed to UK-based epidemiological studies and published on topics such as neonatal infections, paediatric immune responses, and abdominal pain in children.

Dr Michie previously served as Chair of the Nutrition Committee at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, where he contributed to policy and professional guidance related to child nutrition.

He is currently involved in collaborative projects focused on applying artificial intelligence and “One Health” approaches in low-resource settings. His work supports efforts to enhance healthcare delivery and professional education in a range of international contexts.
