Pasquale Striano

Prof. Pasquale Striano is Full Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Genoa and Director (ad interim) of the Pediatric Neurology Unit at IRCCS Istituto Giannina Gaslini. He has held academic appointments at the University of Genoa since 2010, progressing from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor, and to Full Professor in 2021.

He obtained his MD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Naples Federico II with honors, followed by a residency in Neurology and a PhD in Neuroscience at the same institution. He later completed a second residency in Pediatrics at the University of Turin, also with honors.

Prof. Striano’s research focuses on genetic epilepsies and precision medicine, including genotype–phenotype correlations in developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs), brain–heart interactions and SUDEP, and emerging therapeutic approaches such as RNA-based and gene therapies. His work also explores the role of the gut–brain axis and microbiota in epilepsy, alongside clinical and observational studies on novel antiseizure treatments.
