WILLIAMS, JULIANNE

Julianne Williams is a Technical Officer for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) at the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases, where she has worked since 2017. Prior to this, she was a researcher and received a DPhil studentship from the University of Oxford’s Nuffield Department of Population Health, where her work focused on nutrition, school policies to promote health, epidemiology of cardiovascular disease and prevention and control of NCDs. Her work now focuses on child obesity (technical focal point for the WHO European Childhood Obesity Surveillance Initiative), breastfeeding promotion and obesity prevention, and noncommunicable disease surveillance. Most recently she coordinates the NCD Office’s work related to digital solutions to prevent and control NCDs. She is a Registered Dietitian and has a Masters in Public Health from the University of Washington. Julianne is co-author of Oxford University Press’s “Introduction to population-level prevention of noncommunicable diseases” and has published papers in Obesity Reviews, Lancet Child and Adolescent Health, Obesity Facts, European Journal of Public Health, Plos One, Public Health nutrition, Journal of Global Health, Journal of Pediatrics, BMJ Clinical Research and more.
