Karolina Vorcakova

Dr. Karolina Vorcakova obtained her medical degree at P.J. Safarik University in KoSice in 2008. Afterwards, she started postgraduate study at Comenius University, Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin, where in 2012 she obtained her PhD. Degree defending thesis: Chronic plaque psoriasis and its association with HLA Cw6 in patients treated with TNF alpha inhibitors.

During her postgraduate studies, she performed fellowships at the Department of Dermatology, Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich, and the Department of Dermatology, University Hospital of Dijon, France. She attended several short-term practical courses across European centers of dermatology. Since 2014, she has been a board-certified dermatologist at Comenius University, Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin.

From 2022, she has been the Head of Department of Dermatovenerology at Comenius University, Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin, and continuously participates in pre- and post-graduate education and research. She is a board member of the Slovak Dermatological Society and a board member of the European Society of Pediatric Dermatology.She published more than 120 articles in Slovak and international journals and is the author and co-author of 6 books—4 in Slovak and 2 in English.

She received numerous research grants. Her main clinical and research interests are psoriasis and adverse reactions to biologics, hidradenitis suppurativa, and pediatric dermatology. Dr. Vorcakova teams up with patient organizations for patients with chronic inflammatory disease.
