Prof. Ajay Vora is a Consultant Paediatric Haematologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), with over two decades of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood leukaemia and blood disorders. He has held a long-standing academic and clinical role in Sheffield, serving as Consultant Paediatric Haematologist at Sheffield Children’s Hospital since 1995 and as Professor of Paediatric Haematology at the University of Sheffield since 2005.His clinical and research interests focus on childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), haemopoietic stem cell transplantation, and cord blood transplantation. Prof. Vora has played a central role in numerous national and international phase III clinical trials, acting as Chief Investigator and Principal Investigator across a wide portfolio of studies. His work has significantly contributed to advances in treatment protocols and long-term outcomes for children with cancer.Prof. Vora is the author of around 400 peer-reviewed publications and has contributed to key academic texts on paediatric leukaemia. He previously chaired both the UK NCRI Childhood Leukaemia Sub-group and the I-BFM ALL Committee, and until 2017, directed the Trent Regional Paediatric Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Service.At GOSH, he co-led a recent trial described as a “game-changer” for offering a less toxic alternative to chemotherapy in paediatric cancer care. He continues to be a driving force in integrating clinical excellence with research to improve outcomes for children with malignant and non-malignant blood disorders.
