Torun Vatne

Dr. Torun M. Vatne is a clinical psychologist specializing in child and adolescent psychology, serving as a researcher at Frambu Resource Centre for Rare Disorders in Norway. Her work focuses on patient-provider communication in pediatric care, ensuring that children with chronic illnesses receive compassionate and effective medical interactions.

Dr. Vatne earned her PhD in 2011, where she explored child-physician communication about somatic symptoms and emotional concerns during medical encounters. Her research refines strategies for improving doctor-patient dialogue, ensuring that children feel heard and supported in medical settings.

Clinically, she works on psychological health in chronically ill children, developing interventions to strengthen family communication and support systems. She is also involved in palliative care, ensuring that families receive guidance and emotional support during difficult medical journeys.

Beyond her research and clinical work, Dr. Vatne is an educator, teaching clinical communication at the Medical Faculty at the University of Oslo, child therapy at the Department of Psychology at the University of Oslo, and general psychology at Lovisenberg University College.
