Dr. Mark Vanderpump is an Honorary Consultant Endocrinologist at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and a leading expert in diabetes, thyroid disorders, and endocrine diseases. He has contributed extensively to clinical endocrinology, medical education, and research, shaping best practices in hormonal health and metabolic disorders.

Dr. Vanderpump earned his medical degree in 1987 and completed postgraduate training in Newcastle upon Tyne and Stoke-on-Trent, achieving a Certificate of Specialist Training in General Medicine, Diabetes, and Endocrinology in 1996. He served as an NHS Consultant at North Middlesex Hospital from 1996 to 1999, before joining the Royal Free London Foundation Trust, where he worked as a Consultant Physician and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Endocrinology and Diabetes from 1999 to 2016.

His expertise spans thyroid disorders, pituitary diseases, and metabolic syndromes, with a particular focus on hypothyroidism, iodine deficiency, and endocrine dysfunctions. He has contributed to national guidelines on thyroid disease management, ensuring that healthcare professionals follow evidence-based protocols to improve patient outcomes. His research has explored the epidemiology of iodine deficiency, the use of combination therapies for hypothyroidism, and the impact of endocrine disorders on overall health.

He served as President of the British Thyroid Association from 2014 to 2017, where he played a key role in policy development and professional training. He is also actively involved in medicolegal practice, providing expert opinions on clinical negligence cases related to endocrinology.
