Luc Tappy

Prof. Tappy graduated from Lausanne University Medical School in 1981 and completed his medical and research training at Lausanne University Hospital in Switzerland and Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, USA. His expertise in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism has positioned him as a leading figure in nutritional physiology and metabolic research.

His research focuses on the metabolism of fructose-containing sugars in humans, investigating their role in insulin resistance, obesity, and metabolic syndrome. He has contributed to studies examining hepatic de novo lipogenesis, glucose homeostasis, and the effects of dietary sugars on cardiovascular health. His work has provided critical insights into the nutritional and environmental factors associated with metabolic diseases, influencing public health policies and dietary recommendations.

Prof. Tappy has received numerous scientific distinctions, including the Prix Gabriel Baud (1986), Sol Sherry Award for Excellence in Clinical Research (1988), and the Prix de la Société Suisse de Médecine Intensive (1995). His contributions to diabetes research and human metabolism have earned him recognition in international scientific communities.

Beyond his research, Prof. Tappy is actively involved in medical education and mentorship, training healthcare professionals in physiology, endocrinology, and metabolic medicine. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, advancing knowledge in nutrition science and metabolic disorders.
