Prof. Tomas Seeman has served as Professor of Paediatrics at Charles University in Prague since 2010. He began his medical career in 1993 as a resident at the 1st Department of Pediatrics, Charles University. He continued his postgraduate training in pediatric nephrology at the University of Heidelberg and the Department of Pediatrics in Jena, Germany. In 1999, he completed a clinical observership at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, USA.
In November 2001, Prof. Seeman was appointed Head of the Pediatric Renal Transplantation Program in the Czech Republic. In this role, he has contributed to the development and coordination of kidney transplantation services for children across the country. His clinical and academic work focuses on pediatric nephrology, including hypertension, chronic kidney disease, renal replacement therapy, and transplantation outcomes.
Prof. Seeman has published over 125 scientific articles, with 68 appearing in journals with a high impact factor. His research has contributed to clinical guidelines and the understanding of long-term outcomes in pediatric kidney disease and transplantation. He also participates in international collaborative studies and serves on professional committees in the field of pediatric nephrology.
In addition to his clinical and research activities, he is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, contributing to training programs for students and residents in pediatrics and nephrology.
