Ber Oomen is the full-time Executive Director of the European Specialist Nurses Organization (ESNO), where he promotes and represents the interests of specialist nurses across Europe. Since 2006, he has built strong relations with the European Medicines Agency, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the European Parliament’s SANT Committee, the European Economic and Social Committee(EESC), and works closely with DG SANTE at the European Commission. He has also developed trusted partnerships with other European healthcare professional organizations.
As Executive Director and full-time manager, Ber advances health projects, acts as a bridge between ESNO’s members and European institutions, and coordinates ESNO’s responses to international health challenges. He actively promotes the role and positions of nurse professionals in specialties and advanced roles within health systems, amplifying their contribution to value-based care.
He is program leader of the European Nurses Complementary Curriculum on Vaccination, developer of a Nurses Guide on Vaccination, Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control, and program lead of the European Nurses Information and Communication Guide on Biosimilars, and a strong promote of life course immunisation. Through these initiatives, Ber strengthens the visibility, competence, and leadership of specialist nurses in Europe’s evolving health landscape.
