Prof. Luis Moreno Aznar is Full Professor of Public Health at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, where he leads research and academic programs focused on nutrition, physical activity, and health promotion, particularly among children and adolescents. He currently serves as President of the Spanish Nutrition Society, supporting the advancement of nutritional science and its application in clinical and public health practice across Spain.
Prof. Moreno holds a PhD in Pharmacy and has developed a research career spanning epidemiology, nutritional assessment, and preventive health strategies. He is best known for coordinating and participating in numerous European and national research projects on childhood obesity, lifestyle-related health outcomes, and physical activity. His work has included leadership roles in large-scale initiatives such as the HELENA (Healthy Lifestyle in Europe by Nutrition in Adolescence) and IDEFICS (Identification and prevention of dietary- and lifestyle-induced health effects in children and infants) studies.
He has authored or co-authored more than 300 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and is actively involved in mentoring PhD candidates and young researchers in the fields of nutrition and public health. His academic contributions have supported the development of evidence-based guidelines and educational strategies to promote healthy habits in younger populations.
Prof. Moreno also collaborates with various international organizations and scientific committees, contributing to the evaluation and implementation of policies on childhood nutrition and obesity prevention at both European and global levels.
