David Molter

Dr. David W. Molter is a Professor of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, with a clinical focus in pediatric otolaryngology. He sees patients at both St. Louis Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Specialty Care Center, where he provides comprehensive care for a wide range of pediatric ENT conditions.

Dr. Molter earned both his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and his medical degree from Duke University. He completed his residency and advanced training in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at Duke University Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology and maxillofacial surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He is board certified in both otolaryngology and clinical informatics.

With over two decades of clinical experience, Dr. Molter’s areas of expertise include pediatric airway evaluation and reconstruction, cleft and craniofacial disorders, pediatric sleep apnea, ear diseases such as cholesteatoma, juvenile laryngeal papilloma, and primary ciliary dyskinesia. He is widely recognized for his contributions to improving surgical outcomes and clinical care models in pediatric ENT, particularly in complex airway and craniofacial cases.

Dr. Molter has received multiple honors throughout his career, including being named to Best Doctors in America (2007–2016) and listed as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. He has also received institutional awards such as the Resident Teaching Award from the Department of Otolaryngology at Washington University and the Distinguished Clinician Award from Washington University School of Medicine. In 2006, he received the Honor Award from the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery for his service and contributions to the field.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Molter has played an active role in medical education and mentorship, contributing to residency and fellowship training programs. His work continues to advance pediatric otolaryngology through both clinical innovation and academic leadership.

Dr. Molter is based in St. Louis, Missouri, where he remains committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care and contributing to the ongoing advancement of the field through research, teaching, and collaborative practice.
