Henriette Moll

Prof. Dr. Henriette Moll is Professor of Pediatrics and Head of the General Pediatrics Subspecialty at Erasmus MC – Sophia Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She is both a pediatrician and epidemiologist, with extensive clinical and academic experience in pediatric emergency medicine and decision-making in acute care.

Prof. Moll’s research focuses on improving diagnostic accuracy and clinical decision-making in pediatric emergency settings. Her studies have addressed a range of topics including triage systems, early recognition and management of serious infections in febrile children, and the screening and detection of child abuse in emergency care. Her work aims to develop evidence-based tools and approaches to support clinicians in making timely and effective decisions in urgent pediatric situations.

She has played a central role in shaping pediatric emergency medicine as a specialty in the Netherlands and is widely recognized for her leadership in this field. Prof. Moll has published over 400 peer-reviewed articles and has supervised more than 30 PhD students, contributing significantly to the academic development of pediatric emergency care.

She is an active participant in several major international research collaborations, including the International Reference MTS Group, EUSEM-REPEM (European Society for Emergency Medicine–Research in European Pediatric Emergency Medicine), and the European Union-funded PERFORM and DIAMONDS projects. These consortia focus on improving the understanding and management of infectious diseases and sepsis in children.

Prof. Moll continues to contribute to clinical innovation, research, and education, with a sustained commitment to improving outcomes in pediatric acute care.
