Stefania Maggi

Dr. Stefania Maggi is Research Director at the Ageing Branch of the Neuroscience Institute, part of the National Research Council (CNR) in Padova, Italy. Her work focuses on geriatric epidemiology, with particular interest in the determinants of healthy aging and the impact of lifelong health promotion strategies.She earned her medical degree from the University of Padua in 1983, followed by specialization in Geriatrics and Gerontology. In 1988, she completed a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology at Johns Hopkins University, and later obtained a PhD in Clinical Pathophysiology from the University of Padua in 2000.Dr. Maggi has held research and leadership roles in national and international settings. From 1989 to 1993, she coordinated the World Health Organization�s Program on Ageing. Since joining the CNR Neuroscience Institute, she has led multiple research initiatives addressing chronic conditions associated with aging, including cognitive impairment, osteoporosis, diabetes, and frailty. Her work includes both observational studies and clinical trials, with a focus on nutrition, vaccination, and lifestyle interventions.She serves as Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Padua and is Editor-in-Chief of Aging Clinical and Experimental Research (Springer). Dr. Maggi has authored over 800 scientific publications and book chapters, and contributes to expert panels and advisory boards in the field of aging and public health.
