Su Laurent

Dr. Su Laurent is a Consultant Paediatrician who has dedicated her career to child health, medical education, and patient advocacy. She has been a consultant at Barnet Hospital (now RFH NHS Trust) since 1993, specializing in constipation, asthma, and complex unexplained symptoms. Her expertise in familial dysautonomia, managing two children with the condition, has made her a recognized authority in the field.

Dr. Laurent has played a pivotal role in paediatric training and education, serving as an RCPCH tutor for many years and currently holding the position of Chair of Paediatric Training Programme Directors for UCLP. She has been a named doctor for child protection for an extensive period, ensuring that safeguarding policies are effectively implemented in paediatric care.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Laurent has been deeply involved in bereavement support, serving as a Trustee of The Child Bereavement Charity (now CBUK) for nine years. She has been a long-term trainer and facilitator for the charity, helping families navigate grief and loss.

She is also an author and broadcaster, having written books on parenting and child care, including her latest publication for parents of babies requiring neonatal intensive care. Her work integrates medical expertise with public education, ensuring that families receive accessible and practical guidance on child health.
