KLINGER

Dr. Don Klinger is a professor in assessment and evaluation at the Faculty of Education at Queen's University, Kingston, and the president for the Canadian Society for the Study of Education, (Canada’s largest organisation for educational researchers). His research explores the uses of: 1) classroom assessment to inform teaching and learning, and 2) large-scale assessments and databases to examine the factors that impact educational outcomes to inform policy. Dr Klinger also explores the evolving conceptions of and practices in formative and summative assessment in k-12 and post-secondary (medical) education. Throughout his research, Dr. Klinger focuses on identifying those factors that impact children’s and post-secondary students’ educational outcomes and achievement. Ongoing funding and research projects have enabled Dr. Klinger to work to build stronger research collaborations and communication between the research community and educators and policy makers. As part of the Canadian Team for the HBSC study, Dr. Klinger has been deeply involved in exploring the associations amongst children’s and adolescents’ school experiences and their physical health and social wellbeing.
