Dr. Paraskevi Karanika is a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist at the 3rd Department of Paediatrics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, specializing in neurogastroenterology and motility disorders. She is an honorary lecturer at Aristotle University, actively involved in medical education, research, and clinical practice.
Dr. Karanika is currently pursuing her Doctoral Thesis on gut flora in coeliac disease, contributing to advancements in pediatric gastroenterology and microbiome research. Her work focuses on understanding the role of gut microbiota in autoimmune digestive disorders, refining diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for children with coeliac disease.
Beyond her clinical duties, Dr. Karanika is dedicated to teaching medical students and delivering lectures at national conferences and workshops, ensuring that future pediatric gastroenterologists receive specialized training. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, integrating neurogastroenterology with pediatric nutrition and motility research.
She is a full member of the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN), actively contributing to international discussions on pediatric digestive health. Additionally, she holds memberships in the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (BSPGHAN) and the Hellenic Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (HELSPGHAN), ensuring that her expertise aligns with global best practices in pediatric gastroenterology.
