Dr Angela Jesudason is a Consultant Paediatric Oncologist at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People in Edinburgh, and has a special interest in sarcoma and the challenges posed by cancers in teenagers and young adults. Angela has held many national and senior leadership roles over the last two decades and was the former National Clinical Director for the Managed Service Network for Children & Young People with Cancer (MSN-CYPC) responsible for improving outcomes for young cancer patients in Scotland. Prior to this, Angela chaired the UK National Cancer Research Institute Teenage and Young Adult Clinical Studies Group (TYA-CSG) leading it over several years, including a merger with the smaller Germ Cell CSG. Her publications have focused on late effects in childhood cancer, with a particular interest in fertility. More recently, her research concentrates on consent and improving access to clinical trials for young people. Alongside research and clinical work, Angela sits as a Medical Panel Member for the General Medical Council Medical Tribunal Practitioner Service: the tribunal service for doctors in the UK, responsible for making decision about whether doctors are fit to practise medicine. She also sits as a volunteer Panel Member for Children�s Hearings Scotland and makes decisions with and for children and young people experiencing difficulties, to make sure they are safe and cared for.
