Prof. Darren Hargrave is the GOSH Children’s Charity Clinical Professor in Paediatric Neuro-oncology at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), where he has worked since 2011. Prior to this, he was based at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He trained in paediatrics and oncology at GOSH, The Royal Marsden, and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and completed a research degree at the Cancer Genome Project, Sanger Centre, and the Institute of Cancer Research.Prof. Hargrave specialises in paediatric neuro-oncology, with a clinical and research focus on brain and spinal cord tumours in children, as well as the development of innovative, targeted therapies. He is actively involved in clinical trials ranging from early-phase “first-in-child” studies to international randomized trials. He is Chief Investigator on multiple current and planned studies in paediatric oncology.He is Chair of the European SIOP-E Children’s Brain Tumour Group and serves on numerous national and international clinical and research committees. He also chairs the UK National Molecular Tumour Board for relapsed childhood cancers and is part of the multidisciplinary team at the Guy’s Complex NF1 Clinic, where he contributes to the care of children with neurofibromatosis-related tumours.Prof. Hargrave’s research interests include the molecular biology of childhood brain tumours, the use of advanced imaging techniques, and the clinical development of novel anti-cancer drugs for children and adolescents. He has published over 60 papers and book chapters in the field of paediatric oncology.
