Dr. Ramon Gorter is a Consultant Pediatric Surgeon at Emma Children’s Hospital, Amsterdam UMC, specializing in rare and complex gastrointestinal disorders. His expertise spans anorectal malformations, esophageal atresia, and rare motility disorders, contributing to advancements in diagnosis, surgical treatment, and long-term care for pediatric patients with complex digestive conditions.
Emma Children’s Hospital serves as a tertiary referral center and a center of expertise for gastrointestinal disorders, collaborating with ERNICA (European Reference Network for Rare Congenital Anomalies) and eUROGEN (European Reference Network for Urogenital Diseases). Dr. Gorter plays a key role in multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that children with rare congenital and acquired gastrointestinal conditions receive specialized, evidence-based care.
As a principal investigator, Dr. Gorter leads research on appendicitis, anorectal malformations, constipation, and transition of care, aiming to refine surgical techniques and improve post-operative outcomes.
