Dr. Teresa Giani is a Consultant Pediatric Rheumatologist at Anna Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence, Italy. She specializes in juvenile idiopathic arthritis, vasculitis, and systemic connective tissue diseases, contributing to advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric autoimmune disorders.
Dr. Giani completed her MD degree and pediatric training at the University of Florence, where she developed a strong foundation in pediatric rheumatology and immunology. She has been actively involved in clinical research and medical education, shaping best practices for managing autoimmune and inflammatory diseases in children.
She plays a key role in the Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PReS), serving as the lead of the training and education pillar of the Vasculitis Working Party. Her work focuses on enhancing medical education and research collaborations in pediatric vasculitis, ensuring that healthcare professionals receive specialized training in diagnostic techniques and treatment strategies.
Dr. Giani’s research explores the pathophysiology of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and vasculitis, aiming to improve early detection and personalized therapeutic approaches. She has contributed to studies on Kawasaki disease, IgA vasculitis, and Behçet’s disease, refining clinical guidelines for pediatric rheumatologists. Her expertise extends to biological therapies and immunomodulatory treatments, ensuring that children with severe autoimmune conditions receive the most effective care.
Beyond her clinical and research work, Dr. Giani is actively involved in international collaborations, participating in multicenter studies on pediatric rheumatology and vasculitis.
