Karolina Gholam

Dr. Karolina Gholam is a Paediatric Dermatology Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and an Honorary Lecturer at the Institute of Child Health. She is dually accredited in Paediatrics and Dermatology, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complex skin conditions in children.

Dr. Gholam obtained her Master’s Degree in Clinical Paediatrics, with her thesis on Familial Haemophagocytic Histiocytosis published in Clinical and Experimental Immunology. She has completed the Paediatric Educator’s Programme and lectures regularly on paediatric dermatology topics, contributing to the education of healthcare professionals.

Her clinical expertise covers a wide range of paediatric skin disorders, including eczema, psoriasis, urticaria (hives), infections, birthmarks, genetic conditions, haemangiomas, vascular anomalies, acne, and nail disorders. She has published research on the use of propranolol for infantile haemangiomas and other dermatological conditions, helping refine treatment approaches for these conditions.

Dr. Gholam is actively involved in scientific research, focusing on improving diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic interventions for paediatric dermatological diseases. She has contributed to studies on scabies diagnosis, acne management, and cutaneous infections, advancing knowledge in the field.

She is a member of several professional organizations, including the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD), Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), British Society for Paediatric Dermatology (BSPD), International Society of Pediatric Dermatology (ISPD), and the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). Her involvement in these organizations allows her to collaborate with experts worldwide and contribute to the development of best practices in paediatric dermatology.

Dr. Gholam provides consultations at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Cromwell Hospital, and The Portland Hospital, offering specialized care for children with dermatological conditions. Her dedication to clinical excellence, research, and education continues to shape the field of paediatric dermatology, improving outcomes for young patients.
