Prof. Omer Faruk Unal is a Professor of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and currently serves as Chair of the Department at Koc University School of Medicine, Istanbul. He received his medical degree from Hacettepe University Medical Faculty in 1991, followed by residency training in otolaryngology at the same institution. He became Associate Professor in 2000 and was promoted to full Professor in 2006.His international training includes a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the United States (2003–2004). Before joining Koc University in 2015, he served as Professor and Chair at Acıbadem University Medical Faculty.Prof. Unal’s clinical and academic interests include pediatric otolaryngology—particularly airway reconstruction and congenital ear anomalies—as well as head and neck oncology and craniomaxillofacial surgery. He is an active researcher and educator and has contributed to the advancement of surgical techniques and multidisciplinary care models within his specialty.He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the Turkish Society of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, the European Society of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology (ESPO), the European Rhinologic Society, AO CMF, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He currently serves as Treasurer on the Executive Committee of the Turkish Society of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology.Prof. Unal continues to lead academic and clinical efforts to enhance training, research, and patient care in otolaryngology at both national and international levels.
