About

Charlotte Durand

Charlotte Durand is a full-time NHS Consultant in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, UK, with more than 13 years of experience at a senior level in pediatric emergency medicine and paediatric trauma.

Over the past six years, her clinical practice has brought her into direct contact with the growing impact of serious e-scooter-related injuries in children and young people. Motivated by the increasing burden of these incidents and the tragic fatalities seen in the UK and internationally she has developed a specialist interest in understanding and reducing the risks associated with micromobility. She has published research exploring the harms and patterns of e-scooter injuries in children. She continues to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, public health, police, and road safety organisations to raise awareness and support evidence-informed policy and legislation.

Charlotte is passionate about improving child safety through research, prevention, and public engagement, and advocates for stronger data collection to inform public health action in order to protect children and families from the dangers of e-scooters.
