João Durães

João Durães is a Neurologist, currently the head of the Neurogenetis clinic and member of the Reference Centre for Inborn Errors of Metabolism in in the Local Health Unit of Coimbra.

He is an Invited Assistant of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and a member of the Management Group for the Coordinating Panel on Rare Neurological Diseases of the European Academy of Neurology. He is a member of the Board of the Portuguese Society for Metabolic Disorders, where i salso participates on the Working Group for fatty-acid beta-oxidation diseases.

He currently works mainly in the fields of Neurogenetics and Inborn Errors of Metabolism. He collaborated in 10 externally funded Investigation Projects. He received 8 scientific prizes, including the João Lobo Antunes 2020 Prize from the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa.
