Dr. Karolijn Dulfer is an Assistant Professor in Cognitive Psychology at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, Netherlands, specializing in neurocognitive and psychosocial outcomes in critically ill children. She is a Principal Investigator in the research line: Follow-up after Critical Illness, where she explores how severe medical conditions impact child development and recovery.
Dr. Dulfer’s research focuses on enhancing long-term outcomes for critically ill children, with a particular emphasis on the role of parents as primary contextual factors in their children's development. Her work integrates psychological and medical perspectives, ensuring that children receive comprehensive support during and after intensive care treatment.
Beyond her research, Dr. Dulfer is a member of the Research Management Team in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychology at Erasmus MC, where she serves as research coordinator for pediatric psychology. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, refining intervention strategies for children recovering from severe illnesses.
