Paul Dimitri

Professor Paul Dimitri is a Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. He is Professor of Child Health Technology at the University of Sheffield and Professor of Child Health at Sheffield Hallam University. He has worked in the field of Paediatrics since 1998 and Paediatrics Endocrinology since 2004. As part of the paediatric endocrinology team, he sees patients with disorders of growth and puberty, and disorders of hormone excess and deficiency.

Professor Dimitri leads the Hypothalamic and Pituitary Tumour Service and co-leads the Paediatric Late Effects Endocrinology service developed to support childhood survivors of cancer with hormonal complications at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Professor Dimitri’s research spans child health technology, paediatric endocrinology,and skeletal development, and he is widely published in these fields.Professor Dimitri is the Director of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) HealthTech Research Centre in Paediatrics and Child Health and the Clinical Director for the National Technology Innovation Transforming Child Health (TITCH) Network.

He was the previous Director of the NIHR Children & Young People MedTech Cooperative (NIHR CYP MedTech), the UK’s first paediatric NIHR MedTech Co-operative. He is the Vice President for Science and Research at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health shaping the national research agenda and policy for child health acrossthe UK through strategic partnerships. He was the NIHR National Children’s Specialty Lead from 2016-2024 leading 15 networks to position the UK as a global leader in child health research. Professor Dimitri is leading on the development of the National Centre for Child Health Technology, a global first 42,000 ft 2 centre bringingtogether industry, universities, healthcare professionals, children and young people and their families to develop the most advanced healthcare technologies for children worldwide.

Paul has led on the development and implementation of national technology networks that specifically focus on the development and deployment of technology for paediatrics and child health through private and public sector collaboration. For his achievements, Paul was awarded NIHR Senior Investigator status in 2025. Professor Dimitri is committed to transforming the health & healthcare of children, ensuring that the delivery of meaningful, equitable, and lasting impact.
