Dr. Evelina Carapancea is a Pediatric Neurology Fellow at Saint-Luc University Hospital in Belgium and a PhD student at the University of Louvain. She specializes in pediatric epilepsy, neonatal neurology, and precision therapy for early-life seizures, contributing to advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders in infants and children.
Dr. Carapancea is part of the NeuroNICU team at Saint-Luc University Hospital, led by Professor Roberta Cilio, where she focuses on early-life seizure management and neonatal brain development. Her research explores biomarkers for epilepsy, neurophysiological assessments, and individualized treatment strategies, aiming to improve outcomes for newborns with neurological conditions.
She earned her MD degree at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Carol Davila" in Bucharest, Romania, where she developed a strong foundation in pediatric neurology and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her doctoral research at UCLouvain investigates precision therapy approaches for neonatal epilepsy, integrating clinical neurology with advanced neuroimaging and electrophysiological techniques.
Dr. Carapancea collaborates with international research teams to refine diagnostic tools for neonatal seizures, ensuring that infants receive timely and effective interventions. Her work contributes to multidisciplinary efforts in neonatal neurology, bridging expertise in genetics, neurophysiology, and pharmacology to optimize epilepsy treatment.
Beyond her research, she is actively involved in medical education and mentorship, training healthcare professionals in pediatric epilepsy management and neonatal neurology. She participates in international conferences and expert panels, sharing insights on precision medicine in pediatric neurology.
