About

David Taylor-Robinson

Professor David Taylor-Robinson is the W.H. Duncan Chair in Health Inequalities and Professor of Public Health and Policy at the University of Liverpool. He also holds an affiliate Professorship in Child Public Health at the University of Copenhagen and serves clinically as Honorary Consultant in Public Health at Alder Hey Childrens Hospital, Liverpool. His extensive training spans pediatrics and public health within the NHS, and his academic credentials include a PhD, MSc with distinction, MBChB (Hons), BSc (Hons), DTM&H, PGCert among others. Professor Taylor-Robinson leads the Health Inequalities Policy Research Group (HIPR) at Liverpool, conducting research aimed at improving child public health and reducing inequalities through rigorous epidemiological methods and policy evaluation. He is the current NIHR Research Professor (2022-27), leading an interventional epidemiology platform that brings together data and evaluation of interventions and policies that aim to reduce child health inequalities across the UK and internationally. Beyond academia, he is Academic Co-Director of Health Equity North, a virtual institute focused on place-based solutions to public health problems and health inequalities, particularly in the North of England. Under this aegis he led the Child of the North report, which provides evidence and policy recommendations addressing the severe challenges that affect childrens health and wellbeing in the Northsuch as poverty, food insecurity, mental health, and regional disparitiesin the wake of COVID-19. Professor Taylor-Robinsons work is deeply engaged with policy, having given evidence to parliamentary bodies on child poverty and health inequalities, and contributing robust independent research used to inform governmental and non-governmental interventions. Through his leadership of research groups, clinical roles, and public policy involvement, he seeks to bridge the gap between evidence and action, ensuring that children born into disadvantaged settings have the opportunity for healthier, more equitable lives
