Atul Singhal

Prof. Atul Singhal is the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity Professor of Paediatric Nutrition at the UCL Institute of Child Health in London. He also serves as an Honorary Consultant Paediatrician at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He graduated in Medicine from the Royal Free Hospital in London in 1986 and has been a consultant in paediatrics since 1998.

Prof. Singhal previously held leadership roles as Director and Deputy Director of the Childhood Nutrition Research Centre at the UCL Institute of Child Health. His research focuses on the impact of early-life nutrition on long-term health outcomes, including obesity, cardiovascular disease, and metabolic disorders. He has contributed to studies on infant feeding practices, growth trajectories, and the potential of early nutritional interventions to reduce future health risks.

His academic work has included large-scale clinical studies, public health research, and international collaborations. He has published widely on topics such as breastfeeding, infant formula composition, and dietary influences on cardiovascular risk markers in childhood and adolescence. His research has informed both national and international guidelines on infant and child nutrition.

Prof. Singhal is also involved in medical education and has supervised postgraduate students and trainees in paediatric and nutrition-related research. He regularly contributes to academic conferences and expert panels in the fields of nutrition, pediatrics, and public health. In his clinical role, he continues to provide care for children with complex nutritional and growth-related concerns.
