Dr. Inese Gobina is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology at Riga Stradins University (RSU), Latvia. She specializes in adolescent health research, epidemiology, and public health education, contributing to advancements in youth health behavior studies and chronic pain research.
Dr. Gobina earned her PhD in 2011, focusing on chronic pain and associated factors among adolescents. Her research explores the prevalence, risk factors, and psychosocial impacts of recurrent pain in youth, aiming to improve preventive strategies and healthcare interventions. She has contributed to studies examining medicine use patterns in adolescents, assessing how self-medication behaviors influence long-term health outcomes.
Since 2002, Dr. Gobina has been an active member of the Latvian HBSC (Health Behaviour in School-aged Children) team, collaborating on international research projects that analyze youth health trends, lifestyle behaviors, and mental well-being. Her work integrates epidemiological modeling with public health strategies, ensuring that adolescent health policies are data-driven and evidence-based.
Beyond research, Dr. Gobina is dedicated to medical education, teaching epidemiology and public health subjects to undergraduate and graduate students in healthcare programs. She has developed curricula on health behavior research methodologies, mentoring students in quantitative and qualitative epidemiological studies.
